Unfortunately the Mark Audio A7.3 at 85 dbs is a poor match for flea amps.

I agree, but there are lot's of people using smaller amps, both tube and SS with these drivers. They still sound very good, just won't produce large SPL's.

Also consider Audio Nirvana drivers. Meant to be used in FR cabs.

After doing some more reading and corresponding with Dave at Planet 10 I have decided to go for the FF165WK driver instead. thanks also to Vinylkid58 for mentioning this one.. also enjoyed the indepth article on the Arpeggio.. anyways, the 165 seems a bit more versatile in terms of enclosures although a bit less efficient but at 91dB/w/m (?) I think I will still be ok with my 8WPC 6BM8 tube amp. I will try BR to start with... will use the BR box as per the Fostex design unless anyone has other ideas?
Apparently 17 litres is about the max for the FF165WK

The FF165WK should sound pretty sweet with that amp. If you can run a powered subwoofer (or two), that system could really rock.

The stock Fostex 18 litre box should be fine. Doesn't get much simpler than that.
For a BR box, there's no point going any bigger.

Quite new to this so its reassuring to hear that it should all work together. I guess I can go for a more fancy enclosure later if I feel the need, or as you suggest go the 2 x active sub route.

Will post back my impressions in a few weeks hopefully.
