DIY speaker stands

How do you keep speakers from vibrating off the stands? I am going to build some stands for a couple bookshelf speakers but I'm thinking I should put maybe some double sided tape or something on to keep the speaker from falling off. Any advice? Thanks

I cannot imagine good speakers vibrating off whatever they are resting on. Speakers should have enough mass that they are stable. If your stand is tilted, it should have a back stop to prevent the speakers from sliding off.

A bigger concern is small speakers with high stands being bumped by someone walking into them or brushing against them. That is why many satellite speakers are screw mounted to stands.

Having properly adjusted spike on the bottom of the stand will also help with preventing this.

Mine are tilted back 4 degrees. At the back, I added a 1/2" back rest to keep them from sliding backwards. To keep them from moving on the stand, I glued down 1/8" cork mat. My speakers weigh in at 55bs. each, and I have a hard time moving them if I need to adjust the midrange and tweeter. I'd guess the stands would collapse before the speakers would move, (but they have been on the same stands for 4 years, and doubt they will).

I use a foam or rubber type pad between the stands and the speakers. Usually whatever I can find when I build the stands. Glue or use double sided tape to hold it onto the stand.
