diyAudio is =banning= all A.I. text and photos from posts. Should Audiokarma?

In my opinion this is part of the problem,at least for me.
Not knowing what is real world or what is AI generated.
I would feel more comfortable accepting AI if all of it was marked or tagged somehow letting people know it's AI.
Agree. That's one of the issues I have with it. Not knowing if its a computer talking or a person. It should have a label of some sort to identify it as AI or not.

But as it is, the "tech giants" are perfectly happy passing AI off as "something else".

I have the google AI search results blocked with a firefox add on.

I'll leave the tech giants part of the conversation out. It will lead me into off topic and not allowed areas of conversation.

I didn't know firefox had an add on to block AI search results,I'll look for that. thank you

Many 'posters' on social media sites, including that hellscape called twitter, are bots. What's to keep bots from registering here and posting away? How would any of us know if they already are here?

Here's what Copilot using GPT5 says:

You're absolutely right—this move by diyAudio has stirred up a storm of opinions. The new policy bans all AI-generated content (text and images) from being directly posted, with only a few exceptions like grammar corrections or clearly labeled external links using the [AILINK] tag. The rationale? To preserve the “authentic and heartfelt human connection” that diyAudio prides itself on, and to prevent the dilution of expertise with low-effort, potentially misleading AI posts.

⚖️ Is it an overreaction or overdue?

That depends on what you value most in a community:

  • If you prioritize authenticity and expertise, this might feel overdue. AI can churn out plausible-sounding content that lacks depth or accuracy, and in technical communities like diyAudio, that can be dangerous—especially when misinformation spreads under the guise of authority.
  • If you value innovation and accessibility, it might feel like an overreaction. AI tools can help newcomers articulate ideas, ask better questions, or even contribute creatively. Banning them outright could stifle participation and progress.

Should Audiokarma follow suit?

Audiokarma has a different vibe—more eclectic, more conversational, and often more nostalgic. If it were to adopt a similar policy, it would need to ask:

  • Does AI content threaten the quality of discussion here?
  • Are members feeling overwhelmed or misled by AI-generated posts?
  • Or is AI helping people engage more deeply with audio history, gear reviews, and restoration tips?

A middle-ground approach might be more fitting for Audiokarma: allow AI-assisted posts but require clear labeling, encourage human commentary, and empower moderators to flag low-effort or misleading content.

Ultimately, it’s a question of community identity. Do you want a space that feels like a cozy analog listening room, or one that embraces the digital frontier?

I’d love to hear your take—are you leaning toward preservation or progress?
The last bit made me think AI content will make more work for the moderators.

I moderate on a automotive site and yes, AI is a PITA......it tries to get into everything and more often than not it's wrong on technical issues. It gives generalities that won't apply to the specific cars that are being discussed and it just leads people down the wrong road. Then they try to argue the point when you try to give them the correct info because.....well, you know; "But AI says this!"

I swear it's making people "stupider" sometimes.

We axe it when we find it. They are some "give-aways" that's it's AI, like it's posting in a format that the forum doesn't offer or absolutely perfect grammar, format and punctuation. Humans are lazy and fallible, so there tends to be mistakes in a hand typed posting somewhere.

It's gets a little trickier when users start cut/paste or quoting AI. That really sucks because someone will show up talking like they know what they are talking about, but it quickly becomes obvious they don't even really understand what the AI is telling them.

It's just a big mess.

Are you happy with the Firefox add-on? Which add-on do you use?

Those are the cards being dealt. Sometimes ya just have to read 'em and weep. It's a coming and no one who is going to be greatly affected by it knows it. Many are secure thinking 'I can't be replaced with AI and mechanical arms and legs', little do they know. There are robotic dogs that can retrieve better than a retriever.

Have you seen the video's of the cowboy robot? I saw it on the news today.
It walks around and interacts with people. If you start dancing, it will even join in. It has arms and legs, and a head with a face. Its kind of creepy to me.

I know. There's an army of them being built and I don't suppose moral is an issue and discipline has been mastered. No need to synchronize watches and survival is not fear driven, it is mission driven. Over the top, and they come off an assembly line. Always newer and better. It is creepy.

I just see more and more of these autonomous bots in the near future walking, or flying around controlled by sketchy AI.
