DLK 1.5 Tweeter bad

Just came upon a pair of DLK 1.5 with two different tweeters, one of which is doa....

Any idea where I might get a replacement other than waiting for the unlikely ebay auction?

Looks like a 2" cone driver, with a 4.25" bezel.

Markings:

1003 mexico 137.7814 on the dead one
dlk 1003-1t 130 8ohm japan 7750 on the good one, and the prettier bezel too.

I am sure someone up in the Minnesotan frozen tundra can give me guidance.

Finding a replacement phenolic ring tweeter such as used in the DLKs has been a chore of mine for the last year. The voice coil on the original tweeters is .5 inch dia. Pioneer used to produce a replacement, Radio Shack used to sell the same type but it had a .25 inch dia voice coil and was all black. Neither company offers this tweeter anymore. If you come across a suitable replacement let me know. I have 2 pair of 1.5s and could use an extra one for backup,

Can you post of picture? I rescued a pair of unusual phenolic ring tweeters from a pair of oddball speakers whose name I didn't recognise. They have a much larger dome in the middle than usual phenolic ring tweeters, and larger magnets than most, and protective grill. Might be what you are looking for.

The silver one is good, the other not-so-much. Would I be better finding two modern replacements?

Sure, you could always replace them with something from our friends at Parts Express or if you are a stickler for keeping things as original as possible (like me) then you'd have to hunt down a used pair somewhere. Can't say I ever saw the silver faced one before.

That looks identical to the tweeter in my Marantz imperial 6, mine is suntanned and has the dome pushed in but im sure they are the same or very similar.hope this helps

Not off the top of my head. I would get a Parts Express catalog and search for your tweeter that way. Many choices in many price ranges. :thmbsp:

They are on ebay as a Marantz tweeter pair. Thanks madhatter. I would have never found these without your help....
