Do CTS and Jensen still make speakers?

Do CTS and Jensen still make and sell speakers? For CTS, I am referring to their famous phenolic-ring tweeters and woofers, such as the ones in various Rectilinear speakers.

For Jensen, I am referring to the woofers that ended up in various vintage speakers....not the cheap speakers integrated into today's mainstream BPC.

Just kind of curious...the CTS woofer in my Rectilinear XI looks very well built and I figured it might be fun to build a new speaker with that kind of woofer, if they still make them; same for Jensens. I know there was a shortage of cobalt (Co) used in AlNiCo magnets in the later 1970's and production of speakers with those AlNiCo magnets declined; just wondering if production came back.

don't know about chicago telephone , but i'd say not likely . 'Jensen' was bought up
in the late 1970's by such audio giants as Beatrice , Recoton, and Audiovox . nowdays
it has more in common with Sanyo than Imperial.

there's a "jensen" line of Retro guitar speakers in Alnico and ceramic :

great stuff ....still, not the original comany

"Do you know of any that have the specs & Thiele-Small parameters for CTS drivers"

doubt it ... unless someone decides to have a CTS renaissance .

that italian company makes reissues of jensen's guitar speakers . CTS guitar speakers
were nothing special... plenty of boring eminence and pyle MI speakers will do
that sound just fine, without the reissue.

jensen has been long-gone for years . audiovox uses the name only.

good tidbit. i figured someone bought them out. i see their car receivers, speakers, amps, and sub-woofers a lot. walmart sells them, along with other popular names like pioneer, sony, dual, and others.

don't knock CTS. many very respectable manufacturers used their drivers. just a few are klipsch, marantz, AR, altec, scott, fisher, let's see, what else have i found 137 in?

not knocking CTS , i've owned many good designs using them myself , just that
the guitar players aren't interested in anything which doesn't have -THE SOUND -
(celestion , fane , jensen ,weber , etc....always coming up with reissues at $$$$ prices)

pyle used to be to be THE replacement for fender twin 12s , but i don't think they
make them anymore

Jensen is now an Italian company that makes mid-quality woofers. Nothing special about them and nothing in common with the old manufacturer. I needed to refoam a 15" 70's Jensen woofer and was having difficulty finding the right size foam. So I e-mailed Jensen Inc for suggestions, and they told me to look on line at the asylum for advice. No help at all, they didn't even have a record of the woofer model number I had - IOW, they didn't know they ever made it!!!!

There is a company that makes what appear to be exact duplicates of the CTS phenolic tweeters. They're available on eBay, about $25/ea.

I found some reissues of vintage Jensen (and other brands) speakers....can anyone identify whether they're the same design or changed?

http://www.tubesandmore.com/cemirror/aes09_catalog.pdf

starts on page 18 (or page 20 of the actual PDF file)

Granted, some of them are very expensive, but I thought I'd point out the link for any Jensen collectors. (No affiliation, etc.)

The new Jensens, while superficially similar in appearance to the old ones, are not made to the same specs. The voice coils, cones and such that fit in the old ones, will NOT necessarily fit into the new ones.

This gave us fits at the reconing shop, when these re-issue models from Italy started coming out. "Why won't the $*(&% recone parts fit in the frame?" We found out that the voice coils are slightly different inside diameter... JUST enough to NOT be interchangeable. What a PITA!

Regards,
Gordon.
