Do You Have a Followcat?

I don't own him but Fat Cat, my friends cat, follows me around when I'm working on this fellow's house. One day, he climbed into my truck, unnoticed, and after I shut the door, he pressed the lock button and locked my keys in the truck. As I manuvered a coat hanger past the window seal to unlock the door, he positioned himself on the passenger side and as soon as I unlocked the doors, he would pounce on the lock, relocking all the doors. Me and Fats get along famously. I actually just built him a cat mansion, pictures are up in the "non-audio DIY section".

One of my cats sleeps with me during the night and nap times. He also stares at the side of my head and meows until I get him a snack. My other cat is a love bug but pretty much only moves to poop and eat.

My followcat is named Noodles.

She won't eat people food other than licking Doritos or cheddar cheese chips, but won't be satisfied until she gets to sniff whatever I'm eating. In warmer weather, the open window of whatever room I'm in is her spot. She keeps a watch on whatever's outside and an eye on me at the same time.

yup. more like fellow cats though since i have a few cats. they follow me around all the time and when i come home they all know and run downstairs to greet me. they like hanging out where ever i decide to relax at. my one cat loves jumping on my keyboard all the time and some reason they like hanging out on my shoulder. i have no idea why. there like a big furry parrot.

Didn't you guys get the memo? Cats are aloof, independent, and unaffectionate.

I type these words with Martin Luther Kitty lying on the chairback over my shoulder (where we gather every morning). If I go into my office to fire up the tubes, he comes along. If I go into the den watch sports, he come and gets on the sofa with me.

The Bug likes to follow me all over the house, and feels that she has the inalienable right to perch on my lap when I'm at the computer.

My followcat, Casey, aka Mr. C is at my feet as I type this post. He began life as a Feral Tom and got domesticated quickly. He's now 4-5 years old and the size of a Buick.

I have Blackie, the big fat a$$ cat who pees on everything is always in the way, but I'd never trade for anything. I swear his momma was a retarded pit bull.

I guess Goldie didn't get the memo either, when I would put out his breakfast or dinner if I did not pick him up and cuddle him he would get pissed.

Our Calico cat of almost 20 yrs passed away from typical old age complications last year. She always followed us on walks. Even when she was very old and just too feeble to keep up, she still tried her best, but I didn't stress her at all; I'd gladly pick her up so she always accompanied us on our walks, regardless of who was actually doing the walking; she or me. During the walk, she loved to get plopped down for a brief trot and then she'd 'accept' my offer to carry her for the most part in the last years.

She came to us from a friend who kept her sister, a similar Calico, as both were mostly white with splotches of brown and a few tiger stripes thrown in here and there. She outlived the sister by more than a decade and also seemed to be part dog since I'd hear her growl if someone or some other animal approached. This was always surprising to hear. She never liked dogs or other cats at all, being soley devoted to me and almost as loving toward my wife as well; a trait I've heard mentioned in reference to Calicos.

Finally, I'd like to add that although she was ferociously mean toward all animal intruders, she never hissed or growled at us at all, being the fiercely loyal defender of the household, yet the faithful, loving family member. As an aside, her life might have been shortened by a cat life or two when she tore into a bag of fertilizer, way early in her formative years. We swore we had no idea what made her so sick when asked by the vet, but we eventually found out, well after the incident. Please be sure your cats have no access to fertilizer, as they sometimes mistake it for a bag of cat food, or at least percieve it as a food item which is actually very poisonous.
