Do you have a spare record press?

Yes indeed.

I also read an article about this company about a year ago - re: QRP Record Pressing in Salina, Kansas. They have machinists on staff full time that dig into these old presses and bring them back to life, adding digital controls to them while they are at it to bring them into the 21st Century. They stated that it would not be feasible for any company to produce a brand new Record Press at this time.

QRP has a mission to produce the finest Vinyl in the world, and they are on track to do that. My hat's off to them and Chad for doing this in the first place. I'm an Entrepreneur, but I'd never have jumped into the Vinyl game. Huge start-up costs and years to recoup any revenue.

Still, as a vinyl lover, I'm grateful that there is a resurgence.

Well worth, for me anyway, following the link to the QRP site and reading about the people and the machines. One might learn a thing or two about a thing or two.

I remember reading years ago that the bootleg label called Rubber Dubber used a press that was modified from producing swimming fins into a vinyl press. It was a barn find in the late 1960's and their label produced many interesting titles from artists from Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, James Taylor, and others of the day. They first started with plain white covers that were hand stamped with ink to going to full color gatefolds such as this one:
