Do You Include Your Macs in Your Will?

The past year has seen some tragic lost of some fellow members whether in this forum or outside, it is truly sad though I have never met or known anyone of them personally. While I myself might have a bit more years to enjoy, assuming I'm not killed by the virus etc., I just wonder what is the best way to deal with my gear, if all my wife can handle is a mini-compo? Should I sell all of them before I lost my ability, or should I put them in my will with clear instructions about their destiny?

What would you do?

I keep a spreadsheet with current values, what they do with them when I pass doesn't matter as long as they have an idea of the value.

I don't want my wife to be featured as the seller in an AK "scroe" story.

If it's just you or just you and the Mrs. left in the family do everything you can to make sure it ends up where or how you want it.
I have kids that know what I have and what it's worth.
I am going to keep a simple, cheap rig for if and when I need to downsize.

My advice is to downsize and take care care of as much as you can before your time. I lost my best bud in the audio field a few years ago and he had 12 reel to reel machines in his living room alone. The house was overflowing with gear and he even had a space rented with a walkway through the stacks of gear. It took me a couple years of hard work to go through and move all his gear to new homes. His only family was his sister and girlfriend and neither wanted anything to do with the gear other than toss it into a 30 yard dumpster. Strangely enough I was the only one left anything in his will which was his beloved Mcintosh gear. It was quire a learning experience for me and I will not put my loved ones through this when my time comes. Since then my stockpile of vintage gear and other unnecessary things is all but gone.

Yes, my gear is in the will and I keep a spreadsheet updated as the gear list evolves.

Yep, all documented and outlined in my trust/will/estate, to be split between the 3 trust executors, to buy out the others1/3rd`s, or if not interested auction off and split the monies.
