They're a bit expensive but worth it if you value quality. A double width 3 shelf unit is around $3700 and a single width 3 shelf unit is about $2500 I believe.

Thanks!

Anyone have ball park pricing?

Non-rack mount gear annoys me and I make it a point to avoid it if possible. But, sometimes you just end up with gear that wasn't designed to be bolted into a rack.

Funny...my TASCAM CD recorder, being a "professionally designed" product, shipped with its rack mount ears already on...since I don't have a rack that accommodates mounting like that, I immediately removed them so the recorder kind of "looked" like the rest of the "consumer" style gear in my gear stack...:scratch2:

Totally agree. Gorgeous units. Not in the cards for me right now, after just buying a new house, but maybe one day down the road.

Timber Nation makes nice racks as well which are less costly than Box, about half the price. Completely customizable as well.

In my main system, I have my disc player and receiver on glass shelves mounted on the wall. TV and cable box sit on a DIY stand made from cedar 4x4s. In the 2ndary system, the receiver sits on a wood DIY shelf. Both receivers have more breathing room than they'll ever need.

I love racks :D

I toyed with the idea of a rack, but the wife suggested this and I jumped on it. Wasn't sure if it would really work in our decor, but boy I was wrong. We love it.

I made a FleXy Rack in December. Once things start warming up, I'm planning to disassemble it, take it outside, and paint it black:

I have my main audio system fully rack mounted. It is all housed in a metal cabinet with enclosed sides but with the back door removed. Plenty of ventilation for equipment to breath freely. But if you are concerned about air-ventilation movement you could install small electric motorized fans to help air flow and circulation?

Does this count as rack?

First I mounted turntable to the wall to isolate it from the vibrations of the floor. Later I mounted the rest of the gear because...err..well, because it looks better that way.

It's all made of 28mm MDF.

A new observation/discovery of mine is how available aluminum "server racks" are in the PC recycling industry.
My preference is more of a customized danish modern take but still can't take anything away from the beauty and simplicity of an extruded aluminum rack.....price of top end Pioneer Spec racks have shot through the roof so when it does come time to go a "stockish" look,a customized server rack will be the route for me. (Way heavier built and with a good design eye (?) it will take no back seat to "stock".)
