Does anybody else race riding lawnmowers lol

There is a event that comes to Clinton AR every year called The Redneck Games and one of the events is riding lawnmower racing, it is pretty much run what you bring and the only rules is that you have to have is a kill switch if you fall off and wear a helmet, the four riders that me and my buddies are taking this year will run between 30 and 35 mph with a few modifications :D the least we have in one is 40 bucks total and the most is 100 bucks total.
I was just wondering if anyone else partakes in this kind of cheap fun either totally amateur or fully modified

Do they race an oval track or drag race? Seems like the high center of gravity would make oval track interesting.

warranty does not transfer lol

usually an oval but this year we are gonna put some curves in one of the straight stretches

and thanks moderator for moving to Sports and Outdoor Adventure :thmbsp:

Sounds like great fun!

In our town parade every year, we have a group of riding lawn mowers.
About 16 show up, best part of the parade for me.

What height do you have the deck set at?

you must remove the deck for racing :D

Ahh - a safety feature - excellent ...
at 30-35mph you likely wouldn't get a very clean cut anyway.

Helmets? Nomex? Neck braces? Alcohol? (to drink, not for fuel) ...

just kidding - it sounds like a real hoot - especially if you are all friends ...!

i have one but never raced it .. one day i thought i would see how fast it would go if i pulled the throttle at the carb end .. reached back pulled the lever and the thing reared right up at the front . was only doing 10mph ish but it was pretty scary .

When I was in high school, I used to take the ladies to the submarine races down at the canal. Great spectator sport.

this thread prompted me to drag mine out and get it running again . after some fun freeing the starter and getting the fuel tank and carb cleaned out its now running again .

We went to the races Saturday, with our four mowers one had a belt failure and another had engine failure, it poured rain that mourning so the track was slick and muddy which made it awesome, out of the 7 mowers that were there my 35 dollar beauty got 2nd place, the first place mower had a 28 horse vtwin kohler motor mine is just a 12.5 horse briggs and straton so there was no chance of first for me so im pretty happy with second. :D
