Does anyone else recall the ORIGINAL KLH-17 speakers?

For more years that I'm comfortable revealing, I've had an eBay search in place for KLH-17. I get emails almost every day about new postings. I don't want to buy a pair. I'm looking for information.

I had a pair back in 1963. I worked part time at Seiden Sound in Schenectady. They got in a pair of what what must have been a very early production run of the KLH-17. I bought a pair to use as extensions to my main KLH-6 pair. (To complete the picture, McIntosh C-11 preamp, Dyna ST-70, Empire Troubadour TT with arm...the suspension model with magnetic end-of-platter lift, and a nice Grado cartridge whose model I don't recall. It was a skinny gold colored rectangle shape.)

Anyway, my KLH-17s each sported a white plastic trim piece around the front panel, not the walnut molding that came soon after. Also the badges resembled the logo on the KLH-18 tuner, vertical light turquoise lines on an aluminum rectangle. The K, L, and H were created by making some of the vertical lines (or parts of them) black.

In all the years of being informed of every KLH-17 posted on eBay and searching Google images and elsewhere, I've never seen one with the plastic rectangle for the front frame and the original style badges.

Has anyone else?

No, but I have a pair of KLH 10s that are cosmetically similar to your description.
As far as I can tell, the 10 had this styling from the get go (see 1960 catalog page scan from Harvey Radio, below).

Never saw a pair of 17s thus bedecked, and I am not sure that any other KLH speakers (i.e., besides the KLH 10) featured the white trim piece.

The KLH 10 is one of only two "real" (i.e, up through the Singer era) KLH loudspeaker models I know of that was ported rather than acoustic suspension.

my mom had a pair of 1964 KLH Model 17 that I snagged...I loved them :D but when I went off to college, she gave away them and her 1964 Kenwood Receiver...(forgot the model) they were awesome :D

There's also a Vintage KLH Audio FB forum, they might be of some assistance. I just sold of a single KLH Model Seventeen and Model Twenty, but they were the standard trim models.

My 17's are dated 1965 on some of the internals and in red ink on the inside back surface. Doesn't mean they were made in 65, could have been later. At any rate, they are the common configuration and do not have the white trim.
