Does anyone have experience with Jensen X speakers?

I have a fetish for speakers with real wood veneer and the old-school brown/gold fabric grills, but don't have the champagne budget for the more established classics with these features. One line of speakers that seem ubiquitous in the world, but haven't heard much about, are the Jensen X line. I'm not expecting great shakes from them, honestly, but man, those classic badges, star trek-y grill fabrics and nice veneer have me all hot and bothered. I'm particularly interested in the X-40 or 45 which appear to be a two-way bookshelves in the neighborhood of an EPI M-100 in terms of size. But, also any speakers in the line that are larger- three-ways, larger woofers, etc. I figure they must have had some models meant to compete with AR's offerings. I've been on the hunt for a week now for more literature and I'm almost to the point of making a trip to the local university library for old reviews or specs- there's that little on the interwebs. Also I have to confess, this isn't the first time I got on this tangent. I bought a pair of the slimline X-20 on the 'bay about 15 years ago. The mids might have had some potential, but the sound was overall boxy and just plain bad. I admired them on the wall like art for about a month, then set them free. But a boy's hopes spring eternal. I'm getting the bug again and just thought I'd cast out a line, see what I catch.
