Does Anyone here NOT own a Television?

DO YOU NOT OWN A TELEVISION? Could you go WITHOUT a TV?

  • NO, I actually do NOT own a TV! So YES, I can go WITHOUT it!

  • I have a TV of course, it's not 1940. It's on ALL the time! I have to run... "MASH" is on again!

  • I have a TV but seem to lisen to music more than I watch TV. But I could NOT go without it!

  • TV is a wasteland! I COULD go without it.... but I have one.... and I watch it from time to time.

  • I'm not sure. TV, Stereo, Internet. It varies. Whatever I'm in the mood for.

  • I do NOT have a TV, but I watch TV on the Internet via my computer. Does that count?

  • I watch TV and I watch videos and movies via my computer. I guess I'm addicted to video.

  • I ONLY use my TV for Laser Disc or DVD or simiar. No broadcast or cable TV for me!

No television in my house, I haven't owned one since the early oughts. I do own a projector, but it might see 1-2 hours of use per week.

Yeah but do you eat meat? :D
I do, but I was a vegetarian by proxy in college. All of my close friends were vegetarians and I found that I could eat considerably better on a grad-student's stipend by buying vegetables instead of meat. It also didn't hurt that my 3 best vegetarians friends and myself had worked (or did at the time) in the industry, so we actually knew what to do with said vegetables, unlike most college student vegetarians who subsist on a diet of Top Ramen, Kraft Mac N Cheese, Falafel and French fries. At any rate, about every three weeks, I'd sneak out and grab a burger, making sure nobody saw me duck into the Dublin Underground on Dubuque St, in Iowa City, when I did so.

Sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do... I think Prairie Home Companion did a skit on something like that, the burger.

Interesting old thread.

Definitely a TV owner, but I haven't spent a penny on cable for over a decade now.

The TV does play an important role in my main audio system though - has a mini-PC hooked up to it that I use to play local files or stream through a DDC/DAC stage - that's my digital source instead of a CD player or dedicated streamer.

The only linear/live TV I really use it for anymore is local news or sports (via antenna). But it gets plenty of use in other ways (video-on-demand, music or video games).

I don't own a TV, I do not watch TV.

There is a 40cm TV in the lounge with my hifi but that belongs to the flatmate and isn't even plugged in (never used).

Have a tv don't have cable. I don't watch many tv shows but do watch a lot of movies. For the people who don't think there are good new shows on (there aren't many) if you haven't seen "Speechless" give it a shot. Far from politically correct and frickin hilarious.
"Speechless" is very underrated. Witty, funny, tender at times. The actor who plays the main character, J.J. has Cerebral Palsy, himself. This show is spot on, very accurate in terms of personality and how many a CP Warrior is in terms of that aspect. P.S. I have something in common with J.J. I myself drive a Permobil power wheelchair (built in Lebanon, Tennessee). I wish "Speechless" had stayed on in new episodes several more years. One of the most memorable TV shows in recent years.

I never watch tv, so have reservations about a 70” black rectangle on the wall most of the time — tvs are pretty ugly when they are off.

Got a Frame tv instead, has been entirely worth it imo. Two holes in the wall for the one wire to the screen, the head unit lives with my stereo. Downloaded a whack of hires art, can have whatever I feel like on the wall instead of the big black rectangle now.

Added the teak frame, and it fools about 3/4 of the people who see it, I’d say. Repair guy last week complemented me on the art, he was standing straight three feet in front of it, said it had a luminous quality to it. The look on his face when I pulled up the menu was pretty good.
