Does anyone know what these speakers are ?

Hello everyone.
I saw these speakers for sale yesterday. The owner says they are made by Braun but he did not know the model of Braun. I tried to find them by doing an internet search of Braun images but could not find them. He says that the woofer type drivers are 15 inch and 12 inch . Does anyone know what they are and how they sound?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you .

Those look homemade to me. Peerless dome tweeter, piezo horn, cheap (at least from appearance) mids and woofers, questionable driver layout. I could be wrong, but I don't think Braun ever made anything that used a piezo.

The cabinets actually look very nice with rounded corners and a very attractive wood finish. I was surprised when I saw them with the grills off . I agree with you, with the grills off they are less than beautiful.
 
They look like Verit, i don't know much about them but the build and drivers look like the set i have seen. They definitely used peerless tweeters and piezo drivers as well. I think they were a house brand.
 
They look pretty DIY to me. Mismatched assortment of drivers, weird combination of Peerless dome + Motorola piezo. Two different size woofers in a single enclosure (I'm assuming). What appears to be a Radio Shack L-pad. Plus unfinished plywood edges (I know that's not always a sign of a DIY cabinet, since some "utility" finishes have that, but that doesn't appear to be the case here).

I looked up Verit speakers and found a few pics, but none that combine domes and piezos. I will admit, however, that the midrange resembles those used in other Verit models.

ETA: it's quite possible that these are Frankenspeakers that started out as Verit or some other brand but were then modified by a previous owner.
 
If nice cabinets as you say, could install good drivers (woofer VAS must work with enclosure size of course).

DIY for sure.
Have you pulled the woofers or the crossover to see if they’re quality?
That Peerless tweeter is worth some money. I’d pull those and toss the rest.
 
Those look really, really DIY to me, or possibly a reproposed cabinet...
The exposed plywood grain on the outer edge and the stapled velcro to hold the grills are pretty good clues.
Without seeing the crossovers or, at a minimum, the binding posts it's hard to be positive but I'm in agreement, free or maybe $5.00. Otherwise I'd leave them for someone who's looking for experience in making mistakes buying used speakers.

When I was in this little tiny store and saw those speakers I did not have much interest in them, only a passing curiosity. When I got home I started thinking about them and thought I would bounce it off of the experts, meaning you guys. I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. In the store they had the grills on which hid the ugly front baffle. With the grills on they looked rather nice. Nice looking woodwork and the grills were very nice looking too . Once I was home and started thinking about them I called the store to have him send me a picture of them without the grills . When I saw the photo of them without the grills I was kind of shocked at how they looked but I thought I would ask the pros in case they were anything worthwhile.

Seeing them without the grills I agree they look like either home made or a modified pair of older speakers but I felt it would be worth asking you guys about them.
I am going to let them stay where they are .
