Does anyone recognize the amplifier and tuner in the 1963 movie the birds?

[Gundy]

I have a bad habit of watching a movie and getting quite distracted, even pausing some, to see what audio equipment they have on set of some of the 1950-60s movies. Does anyone recognize the amplifier and tuner in the 1963 movie the birds? It is the scene toward the end when the birds are trying to get in the house and a built in amplifier and tuner can be seen behind Mitch's mother.

Pilot?

Pilot?

That's what I thought too. Looks like there may be a tuning eye in the center. Pilot or perhaps Madison fielding?

Proptronics?

Sorry snowed in and bored

I'm amazed the prop people would go to the effort of placing a stereo or even a facade of a stereo there...could have just as easily put nic nacs there and no one would have noticed or cared.

Pilot is my guess.

Wasn't Hitchcock famous for insisting on details and realism?

[Lavane]

Lots of films used real equipment for props. The prop folks even rent equipment from owners for the movies Check out the tube system in the movie "The conversation".

Maybe it was shot in a real house with a real stereo.

Impressive collection of knobs on that thing.
