Does anyone recognize this speaker?

Dear AK readers,
I've run across these vintage speakers for sale for $40 locally. Neither the owner nor I recognize the grill logo and there is no brand/model anywhere on them. Does anyone recognize these speakers?

I know that emblem and that style speaker but I'll be Hanged if I can think of the name of them. Its been a long time ago, a friend of mine had a set of them. I don't remember much about them except That I thought they were kinda inexpenseve

I think the logo looks familiar too, and it is probably an inexpensive brand. Maybe Fisher? Beats me.

They look like Allegro or something of that nature, I think $40 would be a bit much.

That logo is, if you look closely, a very stylized SR (as in Sears, Roebuck).

I agree, that looks like the old Silvertone logo from Sears. Build and connections would indicate these speakers are renegades from a compact stereo system likely installed in a 60's vintage home. Judging from the color, I'd suspect California.

I agree that they were marketed by Sears under the Silvertone brand but think they are likely of Fisher manufacture. I had a pair of Fisher's years ago that used those same grills.

Definately Sears & Roebuck and probably sourced from either Fisher or Sanyo. (Methinks Fisher)

Sanyo has owned Fisher since 1975. Excerpt from http://audiotools.com/s.html

"Sanyo started marketing products under their own name in the 60's in Europe and in the 70's in NA and took over the Fisher company in 1975, initially the Fisher brand was wholly separate from the Sanyo one as far as products where conserned and some of the Fisher products where quite ambitious but as the hi-fi market became less and less important part of the home appliance market the brand has assumed more or less the same role as Sanyo."

Those emblems are definetly Silvertone, I worked at a sears mail order store when I was really young and those are the logo`s 60`s even to mid 70`s.

My first guess was Allegro, then the SR was noticed but it still could be allegro? Or Zenith?
