Does this JBL L100 tweeter need to be replaced?

Just got a pair of L100 and I’ve really grown to like the forward sound after a few days. Really different than the L7 I have but actually sound better to me with several albums.

But I just noticed that one of the tweeters is damaged. Not until I pulled off the old deteriorated foam ring did I notice (not sure how I missed it). Any idea if this kind of damage typically has a major impact on this kind of tweeter? Thank you!

Gotcha, was afraid of that. Replacing it with original vs the remakes sold by SS and others- any big difference in sound? If so I assume I should replace both tweeters, right?

well there are lots of orig's out there. Check Flea bay.
but they can go out also. If you get new you will have to get a pair.
you should look at some of the hundreds of threads on probably
one of most produced speakers in History.

Thank you. Yeah I’ve been researching the message boards- just couldn’t find that info.

Sounds like the replacements are well regarded. Midwest sells them for 69, simply speaker for 79. I can’t find any info on if one seller’s is better than the other. My guess is that they’re the same but if any folks here have any info I’d appreciate hearing it. Thanks!
