Dokorder 1120 & Marantz 3250B Preamplifier—Estimated Values?

Hi, everyone! (sorry for the repost; I had to update) My partner's father recently passed away, and we inherited his Dokorder 1120 and Marantz 3250B Preamplifier.

I've posted some photos here for reference. The devices seem to be in good condition.

• - The Marantz has had it's power cable repaired, but otherwise seems to work fine (see images).
• - The Dokorder mechanically works (the tape docks, indicator lights and number counter), though I don't think we have metal holders for the tape reels to do a proper test... I'm trying to find information about its value, but so far the only information I've come across is this post, which says ~$550, while saying the Dokorder goes as high as $2,500 on eBay. I've done an advanced search on eBay but only come up with the model 7060 and 8140, not the 1120.

So, ballpark figures, how much is these things arguably worth? I'll check back on here.

Just getting an understanding of its dollar value. Recopied the post from a Reddit mention; I've since modified that.

sort eBay search results for SOLD listings. The Reel deck is worth around $100 as is. At this point in its life it will need a thorough servicing which would include new belts, lubrication, cleaning of the heads, switches, pots… it’s probably a pretty decent machine, it just isn’t a very sought after make and model.

When you said you'd be happy to sell them to anyone interested and to contact you that was an offer to sell.

So, you made duplicate threads (prohibited) and offers to sell (prohibited).

As you were informed, Dollars and Sense is the only place questions of value may be asked.

Bartertown ($25 subscription fee/year) is the only place buying and selling is allowed.

To repeat, I don't want to sell them here. In the original thread (which has since been removed), I made no such offer to sell; I just provided contact info in case anyone in the thread wanted to reach out to me personally. With this thread—a duplicate, I admit—I had copied from a reddit post with an offer to sell. It wasn't something I did intentionally and after you rudely pointed it out, I fixed it. But you're still rude and I don't appreciate your strange territorial attitude. Nor do I value your weird contest to prove that you're right by getting me, a new person, to admit I didn't read your forum rules from top to bottom. Sorry if I have other things on my mind.

Sorry to hear about the death in your family. Goodolpg is correct. you did come in here and violate multiple forum rules. You certainly did make an offer to sell in this very post before you edited it. Now you know. You could always just do what everyone else does and list it on FB marketplace as “best offers accepted”. You’re welcome in advance.

I am sorry for your partners loss. It is never easy losing a loved one.

Generally speaking, when joining ANY internet forum it's always wise to read the rules.*
That can go a long ways towards preventing issues with what you post.




*Not directed at anyone in particular, it's just good practice.

Condition, both cosmetic and operating/electrical make make a difference, sometimes small, sometimes big.

hifishark is another good site for seeing what people are asking for items, I'm not sure if they have completed sales as well.
