Domus Speaker Find

Newest find. $10 on locally FB Marketplace. Only 10.5” x 7” x 5.5”. Solid walnut cabinets, no veneer. Heavy and well made. Love the round corners. Sound bigger than they are. Laid back with smooth high end, not bright at all. I couldn’t find any info on this particular model.

Cool looking speakers. Drivers are Peerless KO50 woofer, Audax 10 mm dome. That woofer (or a variant, they were available with both foam and rubber surrounds) was also used in early M&K satellites and many other speakers. It's a great little woofer, smooth up to 4-5k and can get down into the upper 40s. The Audax tweeter has an undeserved reputation as a not-so-great driver, but that's because a lot of times it was crossed over too low - above say 7KHz it does a pretty good job.

Thanks for all the information. I'll always take a chance on quality built speakers, especially when they also have an appealing design.

You can buy brand new banana plug terminals for your speakers at Parts Express. Check the dimensions first, of course. Should be easy - no modifications required. You use the original screws.
