Domus Two's

I just found a pair of Domus Two speakers at Minneapolis speaker repair company. They're really nice speakers. Very bass heavy at times. The salesperson said that they were produced by a local company that eventually changed their name. That's all he could really tell me.

Would anyone here happen to be familiar with Domus?

IIRC, Domus were built by DLK, a Twin Cities mfg.. Also, DLK are initials relating to the founders but I can't remember the details. Domus are pretty well regarded, as are DLK.

BTW, welcome to AK!

Thank you both for the information. This helps a lot. They're a great pair of floor speakers. I was surprised to find very little info out there.

Re Domus speakers

I was in 1982-83 an asst. Mgr for 2 stores in Kalamazoo, MI for Schaak Electronics. We sold DLK, Domus and others.
I still own and use daily my Domus II's. Domus was originally designed by Harman/ Kardon and with the close affiliation with the guys at Mendota Hts mfg they came out with their first "digital" usage speakers. The II's have 2- active 8" long throw woofers, actually from Italy, no cross overs and a Pizo-loaded horn.
The idea was, 2 8" polypropylene drivers could move more air, quicker than the Domus I's with their 15" woofer, mid, and if memory serves, a soft dome tweet. I listened on our a/b switcher and found the II's alot tighter in the bass. I bought em. The Domus Omni's were quite inefficient. Only our HK PM660 amp or Soundcraftsman amps could drive them. They had to be EQ'd, but once powered properly they sounded nice, but unrealistic for most folks. I've driven massive power through these II's and they hold up remarkable. Love em.

Currently using HK amps, JBL sub, JBL sats, and custom centers and my Domus II's. Gave my Soundcraftsmen amps and preamps to my son.

P.S. Still was probably the most fun and enjoyable job I ever had.

I've got a pair in my collection, needing refoamed. I'm looking forward to hearing them.

I hate to necropost, but in researching a set of recently acquired DLKs, i had trouble finding a model number. I was able to reach out via facebook HiFi group and got in touch with a former employee of Mr. Schaak. He confirmed my model # and a quick search led me here. These came out in the last year of business and replaced the Omegas.
