Ok..this is actually a good thing. One speaker plug in on Acoustimass 3 Powered subwoofer has quit working. I want to repair this and sell to help on purchase of real stereo stuff.

HOW DO YOU DISASSEMBLE THE BOSE ACOUSTIMASS 3 POWERED SUBWOOFER TO MAKE REPAIRS????

Any one tried this or does it become another donation to Goodwill??:scratch2:

Yes.
I bought a used cordless phone from Goodwill a few months ago.
Get home, charge battery, phone no-workie, but base dial buttons do work.
Googled it, find handsets are known weak/failure area.
I returned it, got my money back, told the clerk they should put note on it saying handset doesn't work.
She said, no, if it doesn't work we won't put it back out for sale.
I've noticed most of the electronics there have a sticker now that says "tested".

Good will needs to stop knowingly setting out broken gear. I've had three cases where there was a sticker on the gear that said "tested good" and was broken.
 
But in the immediate case, isn't a donation to Goodwill appropriate? That way, can -man can get some real speakers!
 
At first I thought you were buying an acoustimass system :nono: good for you for wanting to get some "real" stereo stuff :D
 
Rest of the story

I am trying to fix the Bose thinking it will be a decent garage system f:nono::nono:or someone starting.

I plan on using the sale proceeds (Less than $150.00) for entire setup to help pay for repairs on my McIntosh 2505. Sorry with kid in college, funds get tight!

I would not take the Bose stuff to Goodwill if not working. That was more of a
"...rats how do you open the woofer comment". I too have been burned so buy with understanding I can bring back if not tested.

No luck so far on how to take the powered sub apart???

Ummm......I gave you a link that tells you in detail how to take the sub apart. There are 2 screws on the bottom and some other screws hidden somewhere around the bass vent.
 
My bad.

It is acoudtimass 5 series 3 and no screwd on bottom.
Tried to sign up to site and security login in hard to read.

No problem...How hard can it possibly be, it's: >>> just - 2 - wires. <<<

I gave up. You would need 'superman vision' just to see the wires.

Couldn't believe it. Still can't.

I know its no help to you but this kind of build that has no clear way to open it just makes me mad.

I don't understand why every headset uses thin wire either?

Had an old Koss pair with wiring like that. Everything looked like cotton fibers. Had to run all new wires to the drivers but never sounded the same again.
