don't buy gas on may 15th

Go ahead, don't buy gas on May 15th. Just make sure you fill up before and after.

My Exxon Mobil stock will probably put at least one of my kids through college.

You can't beat 'em, so join 'em.

Own energy stocks.

That's my plan.

The only way to make a "gas-out" actually work is to not drive at all during the gas-out. Don't simply not purchase gas, don't USE gas. Otherwise, they'll just get their money later.

People breathing all the damn time - any idea how much CO2 that is?

Don't breathe on May 15th. Our problems (and the World's) will be over, guaranteed.

... but will it hurt much?

I think the idea is to let the corps. know that the mass public have power and can assemble to achieve a goal.

It really would say something.

Wouldent do a damn thing. Look up supply and demand sometime. No new refineries in 30 years. Drilling restrictions, enviromental restrictions, ect... We put ourselves in this predicament. So dont blame "Big Oil". With profit margins in the 7.5-12% range they aren't gouging anyone. The "Look at the profits" scree is BS. Yes they made record profits, because of record production demands. As soon as we can build new refineries prices will drop. But dont hold your breath, the Sierra Club will put a stop to it. :thumbsdn:

Can you image us,as private citizens using the same bullshit excuses in life that the oil industry are using?
They get away with it because they arent held responisible for their actions by the government. This isnt an anti administration rant, because both parties are beholden to them.
The longer I see big SUV's sitting unsold on new car lots, the better I think the chances are for a long term solution.

I pulled into the station I buy gas to get a cup od coffee last week. My friend who manages the place said gas was going up 10 cents a gallon. I asked when, she said as soon as she filled up her truck.

I don't see a boycott helping, but....if a boycott does nothing other than let people vent a little frustration, that's OK.
