Double Drive Speaker System (DDSS) - Diatone DS100Z

Does anyone have any information about how the Double Drive Speaker System works? I have a pair of Diatone DS100Z speakers that utilize this system. They have a nice mellow sound that I find very pleasing. Great for vocals and excellent imaging.55391478-1E29-440E-A3D7-0D651EC27710.jpegNot my photo... will try to post photos of my actual speakers soon... but recently mounted them on the wall in a secondary system and not easy to get back down. They are paired to an Aurex SC M15 amp. Hard to find much info in English or any language really about these speakers. But I sure to enjoy them!

This is commonly referred to as isobaric loading. It is not a Japanese innovation, but it looks like they invented a new name for it :)

That is what I thought at first too... but it is not... the speakers are not identical in size or function...the rear speaker is SMALLER... AND it is the woofer... the other is full range if I understand the design correctly... also note only the rear speaker is ported. (I want to say I read the rear speaker is 4 inches and the front is 4.5)...
 
not sure it is the same... the two speakers are not the same size nor serving the same function... the rear is smaller and is the woofer.. .the front is larger and is full range... only the rear speaker is ported...

So the rear driver is unloading the effort of the front driver to move air through the port. Interesting.

I see no way that's happening. Maybe +- 10 DB or more.

-10dB on axis I think it could do it. Diatone is the same company who made the famous P-610B full ranger, which is a speaker I've always wanted to try.

This looks like a variation on the theme of isobaric loading, but of course has some different details. The main advantage to the second driver though will still be allowing the cabinet to be smaller.
