Double-sided Tape for C34V

I have to reapply the plastic panel around the pushbutton switches on my C34V. The original tape "looks" like double-sided black electrical tape with a very thin foam center. The only tape I can find is white Scotch foam tape that is too thick. I see also that the original tape was one piece die cut. I will have to make several thin strip of tape and position them across the plastic. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

I use 3M double sided tape, it is a black black tape I get from from auto supply house.

Hello !

Me too ! I use a thin 3M double adhesive tape . Here is a picture of original bezel in gold paint restoration , you can see original adhesive tape model !

Just for your knowledge, my situation was that I was reinstalling the glass after replacing bulbs. I did not look closely and the upper right headphone jack did not go through the glass hole but caught the back side of the plastic. I kept pushing the front panel until it was in but the plastic bowed out about 1/8" of an inch. I had to remove the piece to flatten it.

My big worry now is that I get it lined up both horizontally and vertically without a template. My brain goes nuts when the symmetry is not perfect (like a crooked picture hanging on a wall.) I think I will use four pieces of masking tape and position a corner of each piece of tape exactly at the corners of the plastic piece.

Well, I went to an auto parts store and got the thinnest 3M double-sided tape they had. It was a little thicker than I wanted and the entire plastic piece sticks out 1/32" from the glass. It looks farther out than it measures. The only potential problem is that the four round 1/4" jacks do not protrude as far old as they should. I never could find anything thinner (yet thicker than normal Mylar tape). Is this the situation others have found?
