Doubts about my first automatic turntable

Hello everybody, I'm new and this is my first post, first of all I'm sorry for my English, I don't speak it very well and I use the translator to help me.

Well, I'll tell you:

I bought a marantz 2230 and a project t1 manual turntable, very happy but I wanted an automatic TT because I change a lot between 33 and 45 rpm, looking I found the following:

- dual 1228: in perfect cosmetic condition with the cover and manual, I will only have to grease again with SURE M75B TYPE2 capsule, it has been stopped for a few years but it was tested and the automatisms work well for 100€.

- dual 1019 with some marks on the wood but the plate almost without any, tested the automatisms and it works, sure you have to check it a little and grease it the connection type DIN 5 (I would change it for RCA) with original plinth and cover plus original accessories, box model CK6, this I have to send the total would be 155€.

-1229Q I'm waiting for them to answer, it says it turns on but can't make it work, flat electrical cable and rca connection (all quite old), aesthetically very good and with cover, for 130€ shipping included.

-1229 restored plinth, new methacrylate cover, working until 2 years ago now without use so it will have to be greased, but this perfect Stanton capsule would be with shipping 280€.

I don't care if it is a small dish even better for my house, but I have a marantz 1070 in another place without a dish and I wanted to have two dishes.

My idea was to buy the 1228 that I can go to see it and try it but I'm afraid that in theory from what I've read the change between 33 and 45 is related to the size of 7 and 12" of the vinyl, I understand that if I start selecting 45" the arm goes to the 7" position and my 45 vinyls are 12", I don't know if I can start at 33 and the arm goes to 12" and then change the speed to 45 without ending up lifting the arm before reaching the end of the vinyl.

Also another option was to buy the 1019 and check it and change the RCA's and grease it I think but it has the issue of how it will come from the shipment and I read that these are very good for 78 rpm but I don't have that kind of vinyl.

Then the other two come in but I don't know what to choose, I would keep the project because it is manual and it sounds really good or I could even sell it if I get 2 small plate duals, buy the 1228 and 1019 and try them out, keep the one I like the most I guess the 1019 and give the other one to my father.

Welcome. I like the 1019, but I'm not an expert, and have no experience with the 1229. But I have found the 1019 to be very strong, very reliable, and easy to maintain. My only complaint is that mine are very sensitive to vibration in the room. I'm still trying to figure it out.

You are correct that the 1228 will default to 7" when on 45rpm and 12" when set to 33rpm. This only really matters if you wish to play 12" singles, 7" pressed at 33rpm or 10" records on auto.

The 1019 has the manual size selection (as do many other Duals such as my 1218) marked 7 - 10 - 12 or 17 - 25 - 30 so you can cover most types of record. Note the 1019 should have a working stacker spindle which is rare to find these days, it is not the same as the type fitted to the 1228 or other 12** series.

If you're buying anything other than "ordinary" 12" 33's and 7" 45's, then independent selection of speed and size is important.

For example, MoFi 45RPM 12" pressings. And some small labels' 10" 45s.
 
Why not a B&O 4000 or 8000 series TT. Restored of course. Just push play they automatically select the size of the record, set down automatically and shut off automatically. They will track a warped record better than almost anything else. Some might argue a Revox linear table is better. If you buy a Revox with the universal mount you can use almost any cartridge. They came with a V-15II as I remember.
 
Personally I'd probably get a nice Technics for 1/2 the Euro. I have two or three Duals around here and never bother with them, with the pricing your giving I should dust them off and move them on but I doubt I'd get anywhere near that pricing.

We're talking from what I've seen about 1000€ TT's my budget is 300€.
