Dr Feickert Volare

Looking for thoughts and experiences related to the Dr Feickert Volare. I would get it with an Origin Live Silver Mk4.

I have bunches of vintage tables. Looking for my first “new” table since1982. Started researching and dreaming about VPI Prime Scout, then VPI Prime 21, then made a big pivot to Rega Planar 8, and now - what about Feickert?

VPI is hard for me to find a live demo. The models are confusing too. The Rega 8 impressed me in a showroom, but I’m thinking I want big mass and beefy and durable.

The Feickert has the combination of modern, and mass, and simple that I am looking for, the Origin Live Silver fits me more than a uni pivot. The Origin Live has vta adjust and is preferred over shimming the Rega arm.

There is almost nothing here on Dr Feickert turntables. Any thoughts are appreciated.

The first and only reference I can recall seeing to Dr. Feickert turntables was in Herb Reichert's budget cartridge review for Stereophile, a 2020 article available online as Gramophone Dreams #44. He wrote, "As I was finishing my auditions, I realized why all these almost-free, give-them-out-on-Halloween cartridges sounded so ridiculously sophisticated: I was playing them on a $6995 two-motor, belt-drive Dr. Feickert Blackbird turntable equipped with a 10.5", $1995 Schick tonearm. . . On the Blackbird-Schick deck, these so-called entry-level cartridges played recordings with a layered, three-dimensional complexity that I thought was impossible at these price points."

I doubt I'll ever see a Dr. Feickert product. The nearest dealer is about 525 miles away, and I'm just not as adventurous as I was 40+ years ago when I planned a driving vacation many times that distance that included visiting turntable dealers with alternatives to the LP12. I ended up buying a Linn from a dealer local to me, but it was a fun trip that convinced me I wasn't missing out on anything by buying the Linn. Hope you enjoy the Feickert/Origin Live combo when you hear it!

Dr Feickert turntables are excellent - I've never encountered a bad one. Dr. Feickert himself is a thoroughly decent chap who knows his vinyl replay - I'd recommend strongly!

Sadly, here in the UK there is no official importer any more, and hasn't been for a good few years now, which is a shame.

Thanks for the replies from those who have some familiarity.

I got to hear the Rega 8/Alpheta combo - and it was really very nice. The salesman is the person that personally owns the Feickart Volare, and he can get me one to audition and buy. The cost is about the same, he prefers the Feickert with the Origin Live Silver Mk4, and he wants me to hear it.

The VPI, well I don't think I can demo all three together anywhere, and for years I had thoughts of the Super Prime Scout (upscale audio), and then the Prime 21.

These are the current times for high end audio. It is hard to do demo's and comparisons like we did in the 60's, 70's, 80's ...

Either way, any of these tables will be the best I ever had, and very probably my last.

Resurrecting this.

I bought the Dr Feickert Volare, Origin Live Silver mk 4 tonearm, and Mofi StudioSilver MC. I got to hear it demoed and bought it right out of the room.

All I can say is that I have never owned anything this good. The improvement over anything I have ever had is stunning.

Dr Feickert exceptional. The Origin Live arm can take this rig far.

A friend has the same, but with a Jelco arm and a Dynavector 20x2. very nice, and speed is adjustable too
I would have chosen that one too, I do not like the Rega looks, and I cannot accept a VPI without antiskate.
