Dragging home mutts - another STA-90

I am a fool these receivers. Pretty well made and IMO very sweet sounding. The #2 new one was in 9/10 condition and just needed balance pot cleaned (I cleaned all pots) and 3 lamps. I already sanded and refinished the cabinet and I will re-cap it at some point. It is slightly less dynamic than my other one.

I paid $90 for it total - which is probably too much since they have low resale value. I think they are sleeper receivers and spec out higher than they claimed.

That was my very first receiver, along with a pair of Nova 8b's.
I don't think there was a damn thing wrong with the set up 40 some years ago.
I'd replace the whole thing in a heartbeat if need be, and be confident in it.
It took me quite a few months to pay for it and pick it up piece by piece on layaway.

Nice. The STA90 is a real sleeper. The STA2000 is one of my favourite all time receivers.

Realistic gear flew under the radar back in the day.

I replaced lamps with incandescent and not LED. I don't care for the intense LED look. Just my opinion.

I loved mine I bought new in 1976 packaged with a pair of Mach One speakers and their LAB 300 turntable. My first real stereo. I had trouble with some of the push buttons sometimes, I think the tape monitor ones.

I definitely prefer the original lamp color if you can buy some good quality ones anymore.
