Dream Triple TOTL monster receivers on the Bay (Australia) For real?

Someone has listed for sale three of the most desireable receivers there are --

Sansui G-22000
Marantz 2500
Pioneer SX-1980

on that auction site, location in Australia, starting bid at AU$6,000. I don't know if this is "for real" or a scam. There is a pic of all three of them, though, which looks like a normal pic from a collector's home. In fact, it looks vaguely familiar - might be an AKer who has put the pic up here before?

Anyway, here is the link:

That's been on there before. He never sells it, just a guy showing off his gear. That's some mighty gear though.

That's been on there before. He never sells it, just a guy showing off his gear. And yes he does paying the listing fee.

They must have some really great smoke in Aussie if a guy thinks someone will start off at $6K for all that stuff..

I really don't think its all that ridiculous at 5200 usd. Considering the values of each of those receivers (each average around 2k depending on condition) and what appears to be good physical shape --I think he'll eventually get what he wants when he finds a buyer with money.

Every time he tries to sell these, there is numerous questions about shipping. The seller answer the same, 'I will not pack these for shipping'

Why say you will ship worldwide and why not split them up?

Not splitting them up is really weird. Sounds like he could get near or over his asking price if he sold individually.

Showing off. A guy asks if he'll ship to Germany, the seller simply says that he's unwilling to pack them sufficiently. Instead, he'll dump them off at a DHL/Fedex store, and let the buyer 'organize from there'. That isn't what a buyer wants to hear when they're dropping $5200 USD: "Oh, I'll take your money and leave you to communicate with a franchised sub-branch of a branch of an enormous worldwide shipping corporation on the other side of the world."

If you (the owner!) can't pack your heavy and fragile items yourself for shipping, stick to local pickup. I wouldn't trust some low-wage employee in a UPS Store to do it.

:bs:

IIRC, this auction came up last year. $5,200 is high for the U.S. but maybe in Australia, the market is different. The 2500 and 1980 go for around $1,200 each and the G22K is an easy $2,000.

Total dick of a man. No wonder he can't sell and if he wants to show off his crap he should get them fixed. Arsehole.
