I will be completing an amplification rack soon that will have 3 seperate amps in it, as well as a Gemini CX1000 electronic xover, a mayching Gemini CA7000 preamp, a pro Denon CD Player. The amps will have a respective stereo 22 wpc, 110 wpc & 205 wpc.
The xover turn over frequencies are 50~720 low pas woofer, hi pass mid 50~720, low pass mid 1k~8k, & 1k~8k hi pass twtr. There are 5 selections of frequencies in each range. This xove will serve a bi-amp or tri amp purposes.
What I want to design is a good sounding very flexable 3 way speaker system WITHOUT a passive xover in them, and use the set up described above.
What 3 drivers would you suggest for this set up? The drivers shouls have a broad freq. range so I can take full advantage of the xover turnover points at my comand. The drivers should be fairly flat in their band width, SPL's can be adjusted to match. Cost effectiveness would be a real plus too.
So any ideas out there on driver selection- either bi or tri amp? I would entertain horns as well as domes, cone drivers.- drivers that you think sound exceptionally good, are cost effective and would suit being put in a tri-bi amplification set up.
Woofers would be that of 10"~15" types.
Thanxs
