Drivers Attached With Staples!

While browsing FleaBay today I came across an auction for a model of Quadraflex brand speakers I had never seen before named the Q1. There is nothing particularly unusual about these speakers except that the drivers are attached with staples from a carpenter's staple gun! Crikey mate! I've seen some unusual driver mounting systems over the years, but this one is in a class by itself. If this was the first Quadraflex speaker model, I sure hope they remedied the staple attachment issue by the second model released! (lol)

Note the doubled up staples on the woofer. Now there's a sure sign of quality construction :stupid:

Yikes. Well, at least they did the job.

I have seen nails used with calking putty to try and keep the nails and the speaker in place. Never staples. Rube Goldberg wold be proud. ;)

This line of speakers must have been specifically designed to go inside mobile homes. MIL has a 2002 mh that was built w/o a single nail!

I think I've taken a pair of those apart. Those staples are tougher to get out than you would expect. Of course murphy's law says that they are only hard to remove when you want to remove them -- if you don't want them to come out, they will fall right out because of gravity...

That's a holdover from when Quadraflex bought the Swingline brand of speakers. They were a staple of the industry.

In theory if the staples are designed right and driven correctly, they could work. Would I ever buy a speaker using them, doubt it unless I was sure I could screw them down.

You've heard of custom Fenders?

Those are the Staple Singers Special. Bubble gum was only used on the Abba Edition ... you don't even want to know what they used for the Sex Pistols ...
