I met up with a guy to take a look at some speakers he had. Had to come here to research EPI/Epicure m202 (as I’ve also done for my ads L810a’s, and OHM Walsh 2’s). This site is invaluable!

Upon talking with him, he tells me he has another identical set. So...I came home with all of them! Lol

Now...to get them into the house without getting into trouble.

I’ve read a little bit about them here, and am going to continue to take in all I can. My hope is that I’ll be able to enjoy a pair while going through the others.

I have no idea as of yet their overall condition (drivers, etc), but was pretty pleased with the cabinets and the couple of drivers I could look at due to the grills coming off easily.

You will love that amazing design. Those tweeters allow me to listen to music after many other designs have my tinnitus humming.

And while I eschew stacking, those should stack very well.

The labels underneath all say m202, so I figured that was the model.

Looks like I may have kind of early models. Been reading up on them, 2 pr of sequential serial numbers, though not 4 sequential. He did stack them and run them 16ohm.

I plan to run 2 @ 4ohm.

All have butyl surrounds, and seem to be in really good shape. Still very pliable.

About the only bad thing I can say at the moment, is it looks like the (glue?) came free on a couple of the grills, and he used little paneling nails to hold them on. Lol

Bit of a pain to work them out, but was able to without any damage. Think I’ll do some Velcro or something instead???

Not sure if I’ll end up keeping both sets, or selling/trading for other items on my wish list down the road. But I have a few sources I can try them out on. Who knows? Maybe they’ll push another set out the door?
 
Amazing speakers. Listening to mine now. If they all work you can stack them for a poor mans M1000. If for some reason some of the drivers are bad and you part a speaker out I would be interested in 1 woofer.

Yes velcro... You have some very good sounding speakers. Check sound from tweeters, sometimes those magnets need to be reinforced with hot glue, epoxy etc. They cam also be easily recapped. Nice haul.
 
This may sound radical, but I can speak with experience. You could take all those drivers, and buy some 201 cabs or the later Model 20, and make your own.

I had some Model 20 Epis, and the boxes weren't perfect, so that's what I did.

Should you ever pass thru Ky, I'd GIVE you those old boxes for fun. They're just sitting there. Grills and all.

Yeah, that would be pretty cool to do. I went to school at UK, and if the next couple of weeks go well...I might be making my way down there!

For a while my house was overflowing with Burhoe modules (EPI M180 - two modules in each cabinet!) and M70s. I miss that well-balanced, mellow sound!
 
Very nice. Those very well crafted cabinets will look gorgeous once you do a little refinishing on them. I went just a little darker red when finishing mine to help make the inlays pop a little more.

That looks really good! It does make the brass stand out a little more.

I’m honestly not a big fan of brass, and spent a lot of time changing out various brass fixtures, fireplace glass, curtain rods, etc...but they look so right in these cabinets.
