DUAL 1009 Resurrection

I was recently gifted with a DUAL 1009 turntable from a buddy.
He had it stored away for oh so many years.

It first needed a good cleaning and wipe-down.
Then a new power cord was definitely called for..... I have never seen one this bad before!
The wood/plexi cover needed some work and a total reglue.
The rest of the machine was in great shape. SHURE cart M55 sounds nice.

It came out wonderful. A fine representation of a turntable of the day.

thanx for looking.

Nice! That appears to be a European model (unless the ones distributed in Canada by Noresco had the record sizes indicated in cm).

Very nice job! And worth the effort.

I love my Dual 1009!

The original 1009 is a great sounding turntable! I have fixed up many of this model. They sound great! Though they lack a cue or antiskate I don't dismiss this model. It is a euro model. Has the cool base and dustcover. Made by Dual! Not the US distributor base. Interestingly, your dust cover fits the a 1219/1229 Euro base. The wood trim with the thick plexiglass cover is really nice looking. As shown in my 1219<< in my avatar uses your cover with a 1219 base. Love the looks. The only issue I have is, I have to leave the top up when I play a record as the tonearm counter weight hits the cover when closed. Enjoy your 1009. Got one I will be working on soon.
