Dual 1029 Turntable / Pioneer CS-R700 speakers

Hi, I'm new to your forum.

Got a Dual 1029 Turntable and 2 Pioneer CS-R700 Speakers with a Sansui 2000X FM/AM Receiver.

My Sansui 2000X has a blown left channel on both Speaker A and B - Also the panel lights are not working.

1. Is it worth getting my Sansui 2000x fixed?

2. If not, what FM/AM Receiver would you recommend to match up best with my turntable and speakers?

Thanks!

Your recently acquired Pioneer CS-R700 speakers are somewhat rare. They were a product of the transition from the traditional Japanese speakers with beautiful wooden cabinets and lattice grilles to the HPM series.

The CS-R700, and their siblings the CS-R500 and CS-R300, were the first Pioneer speakers designed specifically for the U.S. market.

Thanks for the pic's 70salesguy - paid $100 for the Pioneer speakers (mint condition) Saw em on craigslist in chicago and ran up there and snapped them up.

Well you know, best to check and recheck the cheap and easy first.
And yes, I think the receiver is worth a fix, up to a point. Once you exceed replacement cost..it seems no longer worthwhile though.
I have a pair of CS-R500, they are pretty nice, but Im jealous of yours.

Thank You for the helpful links ryuuoh - Got the amp for free - but it's only limping along only allowing songs to play in mono without the green backlit screen

Controls deoxit, before any other conclusions can be drawn. Any questions on that, refer to the Sticky at the top of General Audio board.

Exactly my thoughts ^^
Seems like it might be too cost prohibitive to repair and I have seen other people complain about the exact same issue with the sansui 2000x

The speakers have some major volume (weight and sound)
Clean enough for a symphony and strong enough for Rock / Blues - I'm very happy I got em.

Id go vintage sui. There are lemons and pias in all lines old and new. Im pretty much acquire, clean and run. A very small percentage have needed actual repairs. Out of those, what I deemed worthy have been cheap fixes.Maybe I just live to beat the odds.

Update: Found a Pioneer SX-780 receiver on craigslist - This should keep my ears busy until I can find the elusive dirt cheap McIntosh.

I just stumbled across this thread after looking for some info on the Pioneer CS-R700 s. I just picked up an excellent pair the other day myself. These are surprisingly good sounding speakers. Got them and a Pioneer VSX-D603S in mint shape for $120 total. Not bad...
