Dual 1219 Re-assembling Motor - Need Help

I dis-assembled the motor of my Dual 1219 as it was squeaking. I cleaned the gunk out of the bottom and re-lubed. When I was trying to re-assemble the two halves of the motor, the shaft would no longer spin freely. What's the trick? I tried carefully tightening one side 1/2 a turn, then the other side 1/2 a turn. I've tried being very gentle tightening with no luck. Any suggestions would be amazing.

pete, nothing is inside. It spins freely as I have the two halves 3/4 of the way closed. Then as I squeeze the two halves by hand, to close it, then the shaft would get tighter and then stop spinning freely.
 
It’s been a very long time since I had one apart. Are you sure that the core inside the armature section is seated all the way in? Could there be lube that is holding it proud a 1/32” or so? Easy enough to see inside the other half, but there has to be something not inserted all the way. The tolerances are very slim,so remove the armature guts, and then check and reassemble until you find whatever is causing the binding.
 
Also try spinning the top half 180 degrees in the event it was mated specifically because of a cant? In one side, if that makes sense.
 
The 2 bearing cups are able to swivel a bit. You might get it to seat and turn better by giving it a whack or 2 with something like a screwdriver handle as you put it back together.
 
Even when the halves are completely seated, the arnature still has 1/4" up-down wiggle room. If MontyCat's suggestion does not resolve issue, then I will bet you bent or dislodged one of the magnetic pole filling pieces or the magnet on the rotor has chipped or dislodged.
 
CT Jim, Thank you. There were no marks on the case, but once I shifted it 180, it seated correctly. Really appreciate all the help! Now I just need to adjust the idler wheel so the 33 rpm is aligned properly. There is a small gap between the idler wheel and the pulley. The 45 & 78 line right up?

Each case can be different. Have seen motors bind up when reassembling. Usually tapping the halves lightly with a hammer frees it up. Did have one where an metal o ring popped loose on my first 1229. Had a nice rattle. Seth may be right, something loose inside the motor. Good luck,
