Dual 1229 Brushed Aluminium Resto

Hi guys =) I have a couple of 1229's, both in need of cosmetic resto. The corrosion over the brushed metal, on one, looks like it will need to be sanded back with a really fine paper all over then a clear matt varnish applied. The other has a couple of hefty scratches to sand/polish out. My issue here is the decals. Has anyone had any experience with replacing these with Letraset etc? What font did you use, did you make a template to get the dials and numbers back in the same place? Any help would be much appreciated.

Could you upload some pics of the scratches that need to be fixed? I have a 1229q that I will be working on one day and would love to see the process to getting out the scratches.

Thanks

If you have some skill with vector graphics (Adobe Illustrator) of even Photoshop (or know someone who does) there are commercially available inkjet printable decal papers in clear readily available. These will need a clear coat of some kind to protect them, but they should work fine I would think.
There are also laser printable versions out there if you'd prefer that.

Thanks a lot Chaz, yes, I work with PS everyday, good idea! It's more just finding the most similar font, I'll try scanning in an image of deck with some font visible and use a site like whatthefont to see if it can match it. Let you know what i can find and report back.
