Dual 1229 springs, springs, springs

Ok next question that I am looking at is with the suspension springs in my 1229. I put new springs in my TD-160 and liked it a lot. I am putting some work into the 1229 and would like to do all the restore / mod items at the same time.

I am interested in one of 3 things:
1) get new replacement springs.
2) get rid of springs altogether (seen this discussed elsewhere).
3) rejuvenate the existing springs (if that is somehow possible).

I am interested in any experiences anyone has had with any of these.

Well, you could try to obtain springs for the 505-4 (they should fit). Or you could try to put a piece of foam into the existing springs to make them stiffer.
Edit: I would keep the suspension; the existing plinth has imho not enough weight to make a good mass record player.

Sorry I should have clarified: I built a new plinth for it. While not massive it is much much heavier than either factory plinth I've had it in. My plinth is probably 10 to 12 pounds right now without the TT chassis sitting in it.

There are several places you can get replacement springs if yours are damaged. With my limited experience with Duals I would keep them without questions. The suspension design is one of the key design aspects of the Duals. Having said that, unless they are damaged or collapsed I doubt you would notice much of a difference. Also keep in mind her Klaus on VE the springs were tuned to the specific deck and even location. They are not identical and not likely the same between models.
