Dual 1237: decent turntable? what are your thoughts?

So I've got this old dual 1237 that I got at an antique shop and I'm wondering how it stacks up compared to other TTs from that era. I'm not displeased with it, but it's also the only TT I've ever had so I don't have the experience to know whether or not I'd be wasting my time/money by buying a new cartridge and a single play spindle for it or if I'd be better off just getting a new TT. I also hate that the base is all wobbly and how dinky all the plastic feels; I'm always afraid the controls are gonna snap off.

Anyway, what are the communities thoughts on 1237's?

Sounds like trhe later version. Trust your senses there grasshopper. In my eyes its not one of Duals better offerings. That being said, get a decent cart anyway..it can only improve the 1237s lot in life, and further on down the road when you find another tt, you can swap the good cart to that one. Only extra money youd be out is for the spindle. In the meantime, it plays your records and properly set up wont hurt them, giving you breathing room to take your time finding the right deal on the next one.
