DUAL 1237 Record Changer Making Weird Noise

I bought a DUAL 1237 turntable along with a DUAL 510 (a keeper for...Shure :v( ) on Craigslist a few weeks ago.

The DUAL 1237 was in need of some TLC. First it needed new RCA cables, which I bought on eBay; it also needed those contact points cleaned, which I did. A got a new belt for it.

Second go around, I got a new stylus for the AT12Xe cartridge, along with a new headshell. The original headshell looks like it went through a paper shredder; the wrong type of screws were used and they butchered the plastic slots. I couldn't believe it.

The tonearm was slightly disassembled; the right side gimbal screw was loose along with the tracking force mechanism. I believe I got all of that sorted out as well.

Like I said, it was in need of some TLC.

Now, here's the deal: when the tonearm drops and the needle hits the groove at the beginning of a record, a very quite, very faint but oh so annoying 'ooooooooooo' sounding warble begins to emanate from the speakers. Barely noticeable unless you are looking for such things after you just repaired a turntable - like I just did.

It doesn't do this when the platter is just spinning, only when the stylus is in the groove..

Also, the muting mechanism is not engaged either; I know this because when I touch the stylus, noise is made.

It only happens after the stylus engages the groove. Then a split- second later the 'oooooooo' starts up. Then the music begins. I can hear the 'ooooooo' between tracks and at the end of the record as well.

It's not a high pitched sound, more of a midrange sound.

Anyone have this problem on THEIR DUAL OR OTHER SIMILAR DUAL TURNTABLES???

By the way, the DUAL 510 works flawlessly....
