Dual 1245 plinth dimensions

Waiting for a 1245 plinth to get shipped to me, but there’s someone selling a 1257 for parts locally near me. Will the dust cover for the 57 fit the 45? Or are the overall dimensions of the plinths/covers different?

Related question. Is the 1245 plinth deep enough to work with a 1219?

the 1245 and 1219 chassis's have the same foot-print and can use any plinth designed for either one. The 1257 has a smaller foot-print so the plinth interior is smaller but the exterior dimensions are the same as the larger foot-print chassis's. The dust covers are all the same size but they are plinth specific

Yes, a 1257 dust cover will fit on a 1245

The metal brace on the bottom of the 1219 will bottom out in the shallow 1245 plinth and cause audible motor noise.

I found this out by temporarily mounting a 1229 in a 1242 plinth (identical dimensions) It seemed to sit in there well enough, but the suspensions springs didn't fully compress and the motor noise was ridiculous.

I see what you mean about that motor noise. It’s not a deal breaker though. I will say that my 1219 in that plinth is incredibly sensitive to floor vibrations. Any suggestions?

Remove the bottom and add raise the plinth... add feet. I have used speaker spikes on felt pads. Or add blocks with double sided tape if you are looking for a reversible solution. This should solve the bottoming out issue. Those are usually affixed via staples that can be gingerly removed with damage. If you save the staples they can be reinserted in the future.

I have it sitting on these pads and it helps a bit. Most of the sensitivity skipping happens when you’re really close to the turntable itself. Like you have to tiptoe up to it…
 
Do you have a digital scale to ensure the correct tracking force? They are invaluable. Can you confirm if the base bottom is affixed by staples? The difference is well worth removal.
