Dual 510

Hi there...
Literally just picked up a Dual 510 with an ortofon om20 installed... Was going to ask why I had not enough "+" pitch control, but figured it out already... made an adjustment to the belt adjuster nut and viola! perfect now!

Anyone using this TT and cart/stylus?
Any tips and tricks for setup?
Any interesting thoughts on it???

This is all new to me! hahahaaa
Kinda ;)

I had one back in college purchased new. Very nice tt with a great arm. Super low bearing friction with no perceptible play. I loved it until it developed a hum that I was too stupid to eliminate at the time. That led to be getting rid of it. (A mistake)

So far very happy with it...
Need to research the pitch control parts a bit, seems like I’m bottoming our on the adjustment...

gjw: Unless you'd need an asymmetrical pitch control range for whatever reason, you should see to it, that the pitch control is in middle position, so that the pointer on the little disc (#111 in the service manual) points directly to the variopulley, beforce you adjust the nominal speed with the nut (#110).

Ya I was adjusting that and trying to get the pointer to point center at the pulley then adjust the nit and so on until it was right, but to get the speed correct I have to basically tighten that nut all the way, negating fine tuning due to the tightness of the knob...
The guy I bought it from put a new pitch belt on, maybe too long???

I am at speed right now, but can’t adjust any more if I need to.

Don’t know if any of that makes sense...LOL

gjw: Hmmm, maybe your drive belt deviates from the original in terms of thickness, so the the original adjustment method doesn't work ous as intended anymore. Or maybe the motor has once been changed and the whole variopulley assembly hasn't been reassembled correctly, so the lowest available position isn't the lowest originally intended position anymore. If you've got the English version of the service manual (available for download for example over on VinylEngine), see page 4, section "Replacement of Motor Pulley", point 4, the paragraph under "Attention:".

This is the area that is probably the issue. The tapered rod that goes inside the brass hourglass-shaped section that the belt rides on is probably stuck and not giving full travel. If you decide to take it apart, you have to be extra careful and not bend that. It WILL throw your speeds waaay off.
