Dual 521 Pitch Belt

I'm continuing to fix up a Dual 521 TT I picked up. It needed more work than I thought but I'm making progress and I played a record on it for the first time last night.... sounds great.

When I got it, the toothed pitch belt was totally missing. I ordered a new pitch belt from turntableneedles.com that supposedly fits the 521 (http://www.turntableneedles.com/DUAL-PITCH-TOOTH-GEAR-BELT-232076-_p_3752.html) but it is way too big...not even close.

Does anyone know if the various 5xx series used different size pitch belts? Were there maybe different 521 series with different size belts?

Anybody have recommendations for substitute belts? I've seen O-rings mentioned...???

Thanks!

I'd order an authentic Dual pitch belt from South Street Service. Sometimes other vendor offer generic belts that just don't quite get the job done. Dual's can be picky about belts, so use originals where needed.

Thank you DualRef.

Until I track down the right belt, I thought I'd try an O-ring fix. I went down to Ace Hardware and picked up three O-rings that appeared to be close to the diameter needed. One fit very well and does indeed seem to work fine. I'm not sure how long it will last but at 0.79, I can buy a lifetime supply!
