Dual 704 or new?

Hey guys and girls, this is my first post.

I've never owned a quality turntable, but I want one now. I'm no audiophile as of yet, but I know what sounds good, what a quality product is, etc.

After careful consideration, I've convinced myself I want a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon, but I can't swing the price tag as of right now.

However, I've noticed a Dual 704 is up for sale in my area. It looks like it's in great shape and I can tell by the seller's other ads that he is into audio equipment and probably has maintained his stuff.

Just looking for a couple opinions on what might be a better choice for me.

Well, maybe I'm a little late (time shift...) but I would try to get the Dual. It is a very good turntable,, and in my opinion way ahead of the Pro-Ject.

Funny... I've been chatting with the seller of the 704 for most of the day. He's changed my mind! I find this old vs. new discussion so exhausting. Is there any definitive 'better' choice!?

704 all the way if the price is reasonable and it's in good shape and complete (you don't want to be chasing missing parts).

Not even the same planet as the Project in terms of technical specifications and level of technology.

Easy answer? No. Each person's requirements and preferences are different. There's only the choice you decide on for yourself.
