Dual 721 dust cover won't fully close

Hi all,

I recently acquired a really great Dual CS721 tt with a beautiful non-original solid cherry wood plinth. I have one issue and that is that the dust cover won't fully close. I have tried messing with the adjustable hinge-springs but that didn't help much because when I lower the tension so that the dustcover closes all the way, the dustcover won't stay up when opened.
Is this a common problem with Dual tt's with this dustcover mechanism? Or is this due to the replaced plinth?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Tom

There are small knurled parts on the hinges that you can rotate to set the correct amount of force needed to keep it up.

Mess around with them until you get the lid to stay up but close completely too.

Try to get them both equal.

I have messed around with these a fair bit but you then either have a dust cover that doesn't stay up or a dust cover that doesn't fully close.

Take the lid off and manually pull the tabs that hold it out away from the plinth to be sure they actually will come out as far as they're supposed to.

Maybe there's dirt stuck in there somewhere preventing the tabs from moving out as far as they should.

If you turn the knurled knob way out will it close all the way? If it does then adjusting them a little at a time should get it to work correctly. I have a spare set that I just did that with and they loosened and tightened fine.

Something that may keep it from working would be if they were very worn out. Check where the lobes meet for excessive wear.

Also, are they in the correct position when the lid is closed? The slots the lid slides into should be straight up when it is in the down position.
