dual 721 or 621? (or not)

i'm considering a dual 721 to compliment the thorens td 166 that i am currently running. you know - the belt-drive, direct drive thing.

but i have a couple of questions about the dual.

does the spring suspension make the 721 as susceptible to footfalls and bouncy floors as a thorens? (an issue for me in an old house with bouncy floors.. a diy wall mount shelf is in the planning stage)

the dual 621 on paper seems to be nearly as good as the 721.
is it really as close in sonic terms as the specs would suggest.

don' want to turn this into a dollars and cents thing but..
is the jump in sound quality so great as to justify the large disparity in price between the two models, or is it more of a reflection of rarity and availability?

or maybe i should be considering another table altogether and neither table is all that good and there are other good direct drive tables out here.

i have read that the 721 is comparable to (but different than) the technics 1200.

my feeling though is that the 721 is far less likely to have been abused and vandalized by vinyl scratching hooligans.

The 721 is a FAR better deck than the 621. Very solid, so the footfall issue is really a non-issue. Much better motor, too. IMO, Dual's best DD turntable.

sempai: For my taste the 721 isn't that much better in practice. Sure, it's got the VTA adjustable arm and the more massive drive - but the 621 nevertheless competes pretty well. So, imo, if one puts the price difference between the tables in a better cartridge for the 621, that money would be better spent than on the 721 - within a reasonable limit at least (i.e. unless you'd plan to use an expensive high-end cart...).
