dual cs 503-1 only playing out of 1 speaker

Newbie in need of some help please!

My mum has a dual cs 503-1 turntable with speakers and the rest. Since lockdown we got the turntable back out and started using it again. After a bit we realised it was only playing music out of the left speaker (the system works on both for CD, radio and digital).

I know the fault is either with the turntable or the connecting wire. I've checked the extension wire, and it seems to be working fine. However I thought I'd check if there is an easy/known solution before I start unscrewing things.

When you say switch the wires, do you mean switch them over to check if it switches speaker. Or switch the wires with new wires?
 
Switch them left to right for starters. Some of the connections could be oxidized and just pulling them on and off a few times might clean them a bit. Same thing with on/off buttons if there are any. Work the about 50 times and this will clean them a bit.
 
I have tried switching the left and right, the same speaker still doesn't work. Don't have any on/off buttons but I'll try checking that the wire connection isn't oxidised. Thanks
