Dual CS 520 motor start with nudge

I have bought used DUAL CS 520 fully automatic turntable. It played well for about an hour, but then after replacing the vinyl and auto-starting again it did not move on to plate. The motor and plate started to run if I nudged the plate a little. But the speed was off (30 instead of 33 that was).
I took apart the turntable and played motor without the belt and it seems that the motor it self does not self-start when tonearm is moved on plate. The motor needs a little nudge and then runs. I added some motor oil and the motor started to run with less noise, but still needs the nudge. However, sometimes it does start with arm movement (rarely).

Any idea what can be the issue? Any help is appreciated.
Ps.: does anyone knows how speed of this motor can be adjusted?

Hey! Thanks for a reply! Platter does not spin in auto mode too. If I initiate auto mechanism with button, it works just the same, but the auto mechanism starts with the nudge.
I believe manual mode also should start with just moving tonearm, but it does not start without manual nudge to motor.

There's a bunch of DUAL guru's on this board (not me), but I'd recommend creating a free account and downloading the service manual for your particular model.

Yep, did that, but sadly the manual is not very detailed and did not help me much. Therefore I am seeking the said gurus…

If you haven't done it already, I'd bet it's time to replace the belt. Belt slippage could be causing your nudge start issues, if the arm doesn't move over during auto play it's probably the pimple mentioned already.

Thanks for your reply! Belt might be worn out, but its not the issue here. If I plug in the turntable without belt wrapped around, the motor requires the nudge to start.

When the motor isn't turning, prior to the nudge, can you feel the spindle and see if the motor is buzzing/attempting to move? Might need old grease removed, relube/oil. I read a couple Dual threads on the site via the search feature, they had similar issues, but they all pointed to 1 of 3 things: Dried lube/re-oil, bad cap(s), start relay contacts dirty.

Yes, I can see it attempt to move. Don’t hear the buzz.
Can you maybe link me some of these threads? Or atleast share your search term :D
