DUAL CS 528 pitch adjustment problems

Hey guys, first time poster here so sorry If I didn't find that this was covered already. I just replaced the stylus and belt on my father's DUAL CS 528. He was so stoked to have a record player again, only to find that the automatic arm movements are not quite accurate any more. More importantly, however, is that the fine pitch adjustment just spins freely and the table seems to be spinning far too fast and not really reacting to the switch between 33/45. Is this something I can fix on my own? Should I bother opening this baby up and giving it a try?

Thanks,
Jarvis

Jarvis: As such the 528 isn't a bad table - main disadvantage is its 2nd gen. proprietary ULM cartridge mount.

Well, and it sounds like it would need an overhaul including proper cleaning, relubrication, possibly a new Steuerpimple and most probably a new pitch control and a new drive belt. The good news: That's all doable, if you take your time. The bad news: This will be a lot more work compared to a more classic predecessor like the 522, which you would have just needed to lift out of its plinth to work on...

So, yes, I'm pretty sure you can fix it on your own (oh, and I'd also suggest to swap the three capacitors, while you're at it...). But whether you should actually bother to revive it, is hard to tell...

Greetings from Munich!
