Dual CS5000 cartridge recommendations

Hi all,

I have a Dual CS5000 that I really enjoy and I'm considering changing out the Ortofon X3-MC high output moving coil for a low output MC. The ones I'm considering most seriously right now are the Denon DL304, the A-T OC9 ML-II, and the Ortofon Quintet Blue or Bronze. Denon tech support told me that the DL304 will be a decent match for the CS5000, the Ortofon site has the Quintet Blue and Bronze as recommendations for the CS5000, and a few threads I've been able to dig up indicate the OC9 will work well. Anyone have any experience with any of these cartridges in an arm with characteristics similar to the CS5000 or have any other recommendations for a low output MC in their price range (~ $400-$800)? Thanks.

Welcome to the AK turn table forum.

All the lomc cartridge on your list except the Denon DL-304 have a similar level of output.

The Denon DL-304 has a much lower output - "Output voltage: 0.18mV".

Make sure your equipment is set up for that requirement. :scratch2:

Thanks. Low output should be no problem, have phono preamps that should have enough gain.
