You should remove the platter when moving the turntable, generally speaking, say to carry it across town or something like that.
 
They are for all intents and purposes unnecessary. Gravity works, so the heavy platter won't go anywhere under normal use. And removing the platter even for the purpose of moving the turntable across town is not needed, IMO. For shipping yes, most definitely. And for working on the table, sure.

But if you really want some, I am sure several of us could mail you all you will ever need. :)
 
I keep those on my Garrards just so the thing is complete. Not necessary, but it came that way from the factory so it remains.

Just confirm the measurement. Dual being German I'd expect a metric size more than a fractional inch size.
 
Yeah, I have a few of these I keep with my old parts just to have them, but I can’t see myself putting them back on for any reason.
