Dull Sound From Pioneer SX-737

I recapped my Pioneer SX-737 a while ago and apparently it works okay, all switches function.
The problem I have is a very dull sound, without brightness and transients when playing FM.
It is connected to SONY ss-cs5 speakers with upgraded 1 mH coils in the CO.
I can tell the difference when comparing the sound from Marantz RS4000 FM which is much more lively.
What can be the reason for this, should I try to replace some transistors in the preamp?

you didnt mention how the sound was in other modes like phono or how it was prior to surgery. you also didnt mention the tuner if it was touched. most folks are afraid of tuners. so imho you should recap the tuner as i always do and to my ears makes a real difference . i use wima films wherever possible the rest are uks in the signal path and up's if the negative is grounded,its easy to see on the schematic; be on the lookout for blue sanyo tantalums. i really want to stress wima films if they fit. i always do a front end alignment but while after all these years they do drift a bit i cant say that a recap alone will necessitate a alignment as i havent found it to be so. also look out for the usual bad actor transistors too while you are at it. as long as you dont touch any adjustments every thing should be right with the world when you finish.
